Why Python?

June 13th, 2008

This quote from Eric Raymond definitely captures why I like Python so much-

Ugly programs are like ugly suspension bridges: they’re much more liable to collapse than pretty ones, because the way humans (especially engineer-humans) perceive beauty is intimately related to our ability to process and understand complexity. A language that makes it hard to write elegant code makes it hard to write good code.

Apple’s at the Apple Store

June 12th, 2008

I’m here at the Apple store in the Bellevue Mall. Lot’s of pretty machines with premium prices. Not excessive but still high compared to PC, especially to build it yourself PCs which is all I have.

Found the shell and played around with Python on a very nice iMac. Surprised though to find the Lib/site-packages folder was empty. So sad, no toys! Perhaps if Joe takes longer with his purchase I’ll install a few things for them. What would be good? PyGame? That would be fun! :)
